Early Life and Education

Jung So Min was born as Kim Yoon Ji on March 16, 1989, in Jinju, South Gyeongsang, South Korea. Her family is one of the richest in South Korea, her father, in particular, is considered one of the richest men in the country, he is the president of a major private company. While in high school she always got excellent grades, her father urged her to get a higher education, Jung So Min told her father of her intentions to become an actress, her father was not pleased with her because of it.

He changed his mind after Jung So Min received a fully funded scholarship based solely on her acting capabilities, Although father and daughter continue to be estranged from each other, Jung So Min said during an interview that she had not maintained contact with her father for nine years, due to the opposition he had to her dream of wanting to become an actress. She pursue an arts major in Korea National University of Arts in 2011.

Acting Career

She made her acting debut in an important supporting role in the SBS melodrama Bad Guy and in a leading role in MBC's romantic comedy television series Mischievous Kiss. She was 20 years old when she appeared in both television series, the SBS melodrama was a success with critics and audiences, the MBC romantic comedy television series on the other hand over the course of its run had low ratings, with mild reviews by critics, although it developed a strong cult following overseas, that exposure boost Jung So Min's acting career and made her widely known across Asia.

In 2012, she appeared in the MBC sitcom Standby, the sitcom was successful with audiences and critics, Jung So Min's acting and chemistry alongside her co-stars was praised. She then starred in the JTBC cable television series Can We Get Married?, her mature performance in the hit romantic comedy television series earned her a lot of praises by audiences and critics.

In 2014, she appeared in the lead role alongside co-star Kang Ji Hwan in the KBS2 suspenseful melodrama Big Man, a year later, she appeared in the coming-of-age film Twenty and the romance horror flick Alice: Boy from Wonderland. She then starred in another leading role alongside co-star Kim Young Kwang in the disaster medical drama D-Day, her performance as an orthopedic resident caught in an earthquake who starts to treat people in need and hurt earned her the praise of critics and audiences alike.

In 2016, she starred alongside co-star Lee Kwang Soo on the sitcom The Sound of Your Heart, the sitcom was highly successful with audiences, it was viewed favorably by critics, and it enjoyed high viewership numbers in China.

In 2017, Jung So Min starred in KBS' dramedy romance television series Father Is Strange, the television series enjoyed huge ratings, and it was praised by critics. She then starred opposite veteran actor Yoon Je Moon in the comedy film Daddy You, Daughter Me, the film was a hit with audiences and critics who praised Jung So Min's performance and chemistry alongside co-star Yoon Je Moon.

In late 2017, she appeared in tvN's romantic comedy television series Because This Is My First Life, her performance and chemistry alongside co-star Lee Min Ki drew praise from critics and audiences.

In 2018, Jung So Min was cast as a leading role in tvN's The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, an adaptation of a 2002 Japanese television series.

In 2019, she starred alongside Lee Jun Ho in the historical comedy film Homme Fatale. The film grossed $1,937,442 USD in the box office. Later that year, she was cast as a leading role in KBS2's Fix You, alongside Shin Ha Kyoon.

In 2020, Jung So Min was cast as a leading role in JTBC's Monthly Magazine Home, alongside Kim Ji Suk. The drama is their second time starring together in a drama after previously starring in the 2013 drama special, Came to Me and Became a Star.

Personal Life

It was confirmed by both artists agencies on January 2018, that Jung So Min and Lee Joon have been dating since October 2017, after having worked together on the television series Father Is Strange. In June 2020, both artists agencies confirmed that they had broken up after dating for 3 years.
